Street permits and no-parking signs: preparing your moving details

Preparing permit applications for a move starts with practical information. The address, dates and space required must reflect the actual job. It helps to distinguish gathering the information, applying to the authority and completing the later requirements, so you know what is settled and what still needs confirmation.

Check the current municipal service information

The Municipality of Milan includes removals among temporary occupations of public space lasting up to fourteen days, subject to a permit and the Canone Unico charge. Its service page also explains no-parking sign requirements: where signs are required, they must be placed at least seventy-two hours before the restriction begins. Follow the permit conditions and instructions from the responsible office, including notifications of sign placement.

Use the official documents provided through the municipal service and check which office handles the application. Do not copy a form found elsewhere and change its conditions. A generic template is not evidence that use of the space is authorised, nor does it alone guarantee that vehicles will be removed.

Keep one consistent set of details

First, check the street number and the exact stretch of road involved. Keep a shared record of the date, expected times, type of work and contact person. If equipment is used, assess the required area with its operator: it is not necessarily the same as the truck’s footprint.

Changing the moving day verbally without updating every document can cause problems. Tell the nominated contact about changes before proceeding. The same applies to the vehicle, work position or duration; do not assume these are irrelevant to the application.

Agree who handles each task

The quote or agreed plan should specify whether assistance includes preparing the application, signs, notifications and any charges. These are separate tasks and should not depend on a vague understanding. The customer should know what remains their responsibility and what information they must supply.

Choose a reachable contact who knows the address and work schedule. If the customer will be absent, the nominated person should be able to resolve practical questions about entering the property. This does not automatically give them powers or responsibilities that have not been agreed.

Coordinate the paperwork with loading arrangements

Once the plan is settled, belongings must be ready in the agreed sequence. Unsealed boxes, furniture that is still full and last-minute decisions can affect the work. A checklist of outstanding tasks separates packing assigned to the company from preparation the customer will complete.

DUDA can assess your moving needs alongside access conditions. To begin, provide complete addresses, photographs, an approximate inventory and preferred dates. The aim is to coordinate the enquiry with the physical work so the paperwork reflects what the team will actually find on arrival.
