How much does a move in Milan cost? It depends on what needs moving and how the work will be carried out. A useful price reflects furniture, boxes, access, distance and the services required. DUDA Traslochi assesses these factors to distinguish transport from packing, dismantling, reassembly or storage. This guide explains what information to gather and which items to compare. For a proposal for your move, describe the collection and delivery addresses, belongings and preferred dates.
Furniture volume and the number of boxes
Floor area provides a starting point, but does not describe everything a home contains. Two similar flats can require very different work: one may have only essential furniture, while another has full bookcases, large wardrobes and a cellar to empty. Volume affects loading, vehicle planning and handling time. Start with a room-by-room list, including balconies, garages, lofts and any other spaces included in the job.
Identify furniture that will stay and anything to be delivered elsewhere. Estimate the number of boxes and update the figure as packing progresses. Flag unusually heavy, fragile or bulky items separately. Even one oversized piece may need a specific access check. Overview photographs and measurements help distinguish what is clear from what needs an on-site survey, making the estimate better reflect the actual work.
Floors, lifts and carrying distance to the van
Access affects the price because it changes the team’s carrying route. A suitable lift presents different conditions from an upper-floor flat reached only by stairs. Lift availability alone is not enough: dimensions, load capacity, permitted use and building rules must suit the belongings. Provide these details for both addresses, including any steps before or after the lift.
Consider the outdoor route too. A distant entrance, courtyard or narrow passage can increase the work. Conditions in Milan differ between buildings, even on the same street, so the neighbourhood alone cannot determine the price. An entrance photograph, a description of possible parking and the distance to the vehicle are more useful. Tell us before moving day if these conditions change so we can reassess the arrangements.
Packing, furniture dismantling and reassembly
The quote should make clear who is packing. Packing and sealing boxes yourself requires a different service from having our team pack everything. You can also request partial packing, such as for crockery, fragile items or selected rooms. The proposal should identify the belongings and any included materials. Compare the preparation included in each quote before comparing the totals.
The same applies to furniture. Dismantling a wardrobe and reassembling it at the destination involves more work than transporting an item ready to move. Construction, fixings and previous alterations need assessment. For kitchens, distinguish transport, assembly, alterations and utility connections. Tell us if another professional is handling part of the work so the quote clearly identifies what DUDA includes and what is assigned to others.
Furniture lifts and working space
A furniture lift can help move items through suitable openings, but its use must be checked. Positioning space, a workable route and conditions compatible with the equipment are required. The floor number alone is not enough. Before including a lift in the quote, we assess outdoor access, obstacles and the belongings to determine whether it suits your move.
If public or shared space is involved, the arrangements must also be clear. Ask which applications are included, who handles them and how any charges are treated. Do not assume a moving price includes every permit or additional cost. Requirements must be checked for the addresses and work date. Written agreement on these items helps you prepare and compare proposals on a consistent basis.
Distance, timing and temporary storage
Distance is one factor in the estimate, alongside the sequence of work. Even a move within Milan can require extensive preparation where the load is large or access is difficult. Include extra stops, collections from other addresses or split deliveries in your initial enquiry: they change the route and may affect the time required.
If your new home is not ready, storage needs a separate assessment. DUDA has furniture storage facilities at Via Don Sturzo 63, Mariano Comense, in the province of Como. Collection, quantity, expected duration and redelivery must be agreed. Storage and handling are not automatically one item. Ask how each service is described and what happens if the stay is extended. Keep belongings needed during the interval separate.
How to compare two moving quotes
When comparing offers, start with the work included. Check that both cover the same properties, belongings and scope. Compare packing, materials, dismantling, reassembly, floor-level handling, transport and additional tasks. Ask about unclear items before accepting. A lower total may describe a different service, for example customer-packed boxes and no furniture assembly.
Check whether VAT is included, the payment terms and how changes or additional work are handled. Insurance should be described with the relevant conditions and limits rather than inferred from a general statement. Keep the final agreed proposal. If addresses, quantities or requested services change, ask for a written update. Comparing equivalent services makes the decision clearer.
Keeping costs down through good preparation
Good preparation starts with deciding what will move. Separate excluded items, complete an inventory and agree what you will do yourself. If you are packing, ask which materials to use and when everything must be ready. Clearly labelled, organised boxes help room-by-room delivery; unfinished boxes or last-minute additions may require a reassessment.
Tell us if your dates are flexible so we can check scheduling options; this does not automatically mean a discount. Do not omit cellars, dismantling or access difficulties to reduce the initial enquiry: they still affect the work. Describe your real needs and discuss what could be simplified. You can request separate service items to compare full packing, partial preparation or transport with the necessary handling.
Requesting an assessment from DUDA
For an initial assessment, prepare the collection and delivery addresses, floors, lift details, furniture list and preferred dates. Include photographs of rooms and access where available, avoiding visible personal documents. Say whether you need packing, reassembly, a furniture lift or storage. You do not need every detail settled: distinguish confirmed information from anything still to be decided.

Your first message describes the work; prices and conditions are set out in the agreed proposal. The calculator estimates DUDA labour for the hours entered. A complete price must also assess transport, equipment, materials and any charges for the actual job.
