Fridges and washing machines: preparation before moving
Large household appliances require a preparation that begins before handling. Emptying, cleaning, disconnecting and managing components depend on the model. It is advisable to define who will do every activity and what instructions of the manufacturer will be necessary.
Retrieve template and instructions
Photograph the identification tag and retrieve the available manual. Preparation and transport indications can change between devices: do not use time or procedures related to a different model. Report if the appliance is recessed, connected to kitchen elements or located in a space with limited access.
During the request of quote, please clarify whether technical interventions will be necessary before the withdrawal or after delivery. Disconnect, transport and reinstall are not automatically the same performance. The activities that require specific skills must be entrusted to adequate staff and programmed in a manner compatible with the move.
Organize the refrigerator without leaving everything to the last
Plan the emptying of food and preparation according to the manual. Any debrining and drying operations require organization: do not assume that they can be completed while the team is already loading the other furniture. Communicate if there are removable interior components to protect separately.
Shelves and drawers must be managed by avoiding movements or shocks not foreseen. Do not improvise blocks that can damage seals or surfaces. The position during transport and the conditions of subsequent re-ignition must be verified in the applicable instructions, without adopting a number of universal hours.
Prepare the washing machine and store the components
For the washing machine, check the directions for residual water, pipes and transport devices provided. If there are specific components to reinstall for handling, check that they are available and correct for that model. Do not replace them with improvised elements and do not perform operations that you do not know.
Pipes and accessories must be identified, avoiding leaks and dragged parts while moving. Photographs and manual can help the technician understand the configuration, but do not replace the verification on the spot. It also signals any overlapping or inserted luminaires that require a dismantling sequence.
Check the spaces and reinstallation
Measure the destination and photograph the accesses, including doors and passages. A device that enters the compartment could still encounter difficulties along the path. Prepare the necessary interventions so that the new point of use is ready, clarifying who will check the connections and the conditions of installation.
When delivered, it retains the accessories and documents along with the appliance. Before using, follow the instructions and wait for the necessary technical checks. Note these activities in the request of move allows to distinguish what is already prepared by what must be organized, avoiding different expectations between customer, conveyors and installers.
