A plan dedicated to the dog
A move in Milan involves stairs, lifts, open doors and people entering and leaving. Before preparing the boxes, decide who will take care of the dog during loading and delivery. A reference person must be able to stay with him without having to simultaneously follow the installation of the furniture. Communicate to the team the presence of the animal and agrees the spaces to leave free.
The bag that doesn't go on the truck
Keep with you leash, bib, bowl, water, usual food, bags, a blanket and documents. If you follow a therapy, bring what is prescribed by your veterinarian with instructions. Label this bag as “To keep with us”: it must be available even if the arrival of the sleigh furniture. In the calendar also notes who takes the dog and where he accompanies him.
Day of the move
Make a quiet room or arrange in advance a welcome with a known person. If the dog stays in the house, report the door and clarify who can open it. Animals do not have to travel in the cargo compartment along with furniture and boxes. Organize their journey with the family or a specialized operator, verifying the conditions of the vehicle and the carrier. For intense anxiety, malaise or medication ask your veterinarian; do not improvise sedatives.
Getting to the new neighborhood
Before leaving the dog explore, check gates, balconies, cables and mounting tools. Prepare your corner while the rest of the house is still in place. Keep, as far as possible, family schedules and introduce calmly new walks. Check with the competent registrar how to update address and contact details. If you move out of Italy, go to the guide on the documents before fixing a definitive start.
