Priority is doors and windows
With the cat, the most delicate moment can be the continuous opening of the doors. Choose a protected room, with water, litter and family objects, and warn everyone that it is not open without your agreement. Don’t wait for the team to start moving the closet to look for the animal: settle the accommodation before the start of the work.
Preparing the transport
Let the carrier know in advance and check closures and conditions. During the trip you must stay safe and properly arranged; do not open it in a parking lot or in an environment where the cat might run away. For a long transfer agrees the management of breaks with the veterinarian and checks the rules of the carrier. Do not use tranquilizers without veterinary indication.
A room ready before the furnishings
In the new house initially prepares a quiet and closed environment, with the necessary resources. Let the cat take confidence gradually, without forcing it to know each room at once. Before widening the spaces, check windows, networks, balconies and possible dangerous hiding places. Do not allow the exit to the outside as soon as you arrive: it agrees the setting times with the veterinarian, according to the cat and the new context.
Coordinating people and delivery
Write on your plan of move who accompanies the cat, where there is the transporter and which room is prepared first. If the house is not yet available, arrange a temporary accommodation that accepts animals and confirms the conditions before booking. For a foreign destination prepares a separate folder from the documents of the mobile transport: sanitary booklet and passport are not equivalent.
