How to arrange furniture on the floor plan of your new home
Try furniture layouts before moving: upload your floor plan, set its scale and move furniture outlines with DUDA's 2D planner.
Decide where to put wardrobe, bed and sofa before the move allows you to arrive in the new house with clearer directions. The designer 2D DUDA uses a view from above: you can create a rectangular room or load a plan and place templates with editable sizes. It is a help to organize the furniture and work of the team, always to be compared with the real dimensions of the rooms.

Start from the room and the real constraints
Collect the measurements of the room and note doors, windows, pillars, radiators and other encumbrances. A seemingly free wall can be interrupted by an opening or an element that prevents you from pulling the furniture. The layout must also leave room for everyday use: switch between bed and closet, open a drawer or reach a window.
In the project you can add doors and windows as reference signs and insert a generic encumbrance. These templates do not automatically reconstruct the opening arch of an door. Use measurements and annotations collected on the spot to control the steps: the absence of overlaps on the design does not show alone that the room is comfortable or functional.
Load the seedling and put it in scale
Upload accepts JPG, PNG or WebP images and PDF documents. For a PDF with multiple pages select the one that contains the useful plant. If the table includes several apartments, you prefer an image cut out on the environment before loading, while maintaining at least one size readable. A tilted or deformed photo does not allow a precise comparison of distances.
To set the scale, insert in centimeters the real length of a recognizable segment, then choose its two ends on the map. For example, you can use a measured wall of 400 cm. The program adapts the proportions of the image to that distance. Then check a second note measure: if it does not return, check the image and the points chosen before continuing. The walls are not recognized or redesigned automatically.
Insert, move and rotate the furniture
Prepare items in the inventory and indicate “New home” as a destination for those to be settled. In the 2D section choose the available item and add it to the room. You can drag it with mouse or finger, rotate it 90 degrees or insert the X and Y coordinates for a more controlled position. The amount in the inventory limits the number of available copies.
Check the width and depth of the selected template. The dimensions of the mounted furniture are used for the layout, which can differ from those of the packages used for transport. The shape measurements are modified separately from the inventory. If an element goes into storage, it is not proposed for the new house: this distinction helps not to fill the plant with goods that will arrive at another moment.
Read the alerts and prepare the day of the move
The instrument signals overlap between silhouettes and overcoming the rectangle that delimits the working environment. On a loaded plan, the controlled perimeter is that of the image: internal walls and irregular borders must be verified visually. Even the possibility of bringing a furniture through stairs and doors remains a separate verification from its final placement.
Assigns recognizable names to the rooms, such as “Rome room” and “Studio”, and uses the same references on the inventory. Save the editable project and print the layout. Delivery to the team a definitive version, with consistent indications: changing room to a mobile after the reassembly may require further work. For a move in Milan, sharing these choices during preparation helps DUDA understand what activities need to be coordinated.
