DUDA Traslochi — Cubic Meters of move

How much space do home furniture occupy? Before requesting a quote for a move in Milan, an inventory with measurements and quantities helps to describe the work. The DUDA calculator allows you to sum the encumbrances of the objects and obtain a first summary. The result is an estimate to be checked with the company: alone it does not determine the number of trips, the suitable means or the price of the service.

The formula: from measurements to cubic meters

For a rectangular box, multiply its width, depth and height in metres. A box measuring 60 × 40 × 40 centimetres occupies 0.096 m³: the calculation is 0.60 × 0.40 × 0.40. Ten identical boxes occupy 0.96 m³. If you enter dimensions in centimetres in our tool, they are converted automatically.

Take the external measures, including the protruding parts that will remain during transport. For an armchair with an irregular shape, measure the rectangle that contains it: the data represents the external encumbrance, not the amount of material it is made of. Do not subtract the empty space under a table thinking that it is always usable for other objects: the possibility of charging you goods depends on the protections and stability.

Entire furniture or packages after the dismantling?

A fitted wardrobe and its disassembled panels have different dimensions. If you already know the measures of the prepared packages, enter them as separate elements. If you still need to organize the dismantling, enter the entire cabinet and select “To disassemble”. This indication communicates an operational need, but does not automatically apply a discount to the volume.

The same applies to beds, extendable tables and shelving. Specifies what is separated and what remains assembled. Glass, mirrors and long panels require their own attention: a reduction of cubic meters does not necessarily mean a simpler work. To avoid double counts, replace the voice of the furniture with the voices of the packages when the final measurements are available.

How to use DUDA calculator

Open the tool from Utility and choose an example from the catalog, such as box, sofa or closet. Always correct the proposed dimensions: they are indicative measures, not a measurement of your furniture. Indicates quantity, room of origin, destination and state of preparation. You can add a photo, but it is not mandatory to continue.

Repeat the passage for each group of objects and check the summary per room. The calculator distinguishes the geometrical encumbrance from the transport estimate, obtained by applying the selected margin. If you choose 25%, a geometric volume of 8 m3 produces an estimate of 10 m3. The margin is a changeable hypothesis, not a guarantee that all goods enter a precise vehicle.

From move in Milan volume to in Milan

In addition to the inventory, addresses, plans, access to the elevator, distances between door and vehicle and required services are required. Two removals with the same volume can require different organizations: think of an apartment with direct access and one with inner courtyard and narrow stairs. In the quote describe these conditions along with objects.

Before leaving the tool, save the project on file. The button to request the quote downloads a text summary and proposes to bring it back to the field of goods. Check the text and attach the photos back to the module, if useful: images and plans of the project are not automatically transferred. Store inventory as a base to update when you add boxes or change the destination of a mobile.
