Moving a reception desk: measurements and service continuity

The reception desk is often the first furniture to be used in the new home, but it can also be one of the most complex to move. The preparation should consider structure, dimensions, connections and available space without reducing it to a normal desk.

Recognize modules and parts not separable

Front photograph, back and joining points. Mark delicate materials, protruding elements and custom made parts. If there are drawings or instructions, make them available to check the dismantling and the arrival configuration.

A seemingly modular bench can contain continuous surfaces or components that are not immediately visible. The route must be evaluated on the actual dimensions of the transportable parts, avoiding to rely only on the overall dimensions seen in the room.

Separating furniture and links

Locate with technicians in charge of the equipment and the connections present. Define who makes them ready for transport and who reinstalls them. The preparation of the bench must take place in a sequence compatible with these activities.

Objects used by the reception, documents and consumables must be collected in identified containers. Do not leave full drawers confiding that they can travel like this: the handling mode must be verified on the mobile and the content.

Check the new welcome point

Check the pass space, opening the doors and position of the counter with respect to the other furniture. Functional needs must be defined by the company before assembly, together with any requirements requiring the evaluation of the professionals responsible.

An aesthetically pleasing position may not be compatible with the available connections or with the expected circulation. For this it is useful to share an updated plant, not only a photograph of the new empty entrance.

Predict a temporary welcome

If the activity continues during the transfer, it identifies a provisional point to receive people and deliveries. It must be clear what tools remain available and who directs visitors, without using the handling spaces as a waiting area.

The materials necessary for the first period must be separated from the rest of the load. A ready and recognizable welcome box avoids opening several packages while the final counter is still in the reassembly phase.

Agree the result of the service

Describe whether the required work includes only transport, dismantling and reassembly or even further activities to check. Any adjustments to the counter must be evaluated before, especially when changing the conformation of space. For DUDA prepares measures, photographs and accesses of the two premises: the program can connect the handling of the furniture to the other activities necessary to re-enter the reception.
