Reassembled furniture: final checks after moving
When the move is finishing, the hurry to open the boxes can blow up a useful step: check the reassembled furniture together with the commissioners. The verification must be concrete, sorted and related to the agreed configuration.
Start from the furniture list
Use inventory to move from one room to another. Check that all the furniture provided is present and that the elements excluded from the assembly are recognizable. If some work remains to be completed for reasons already agreed, note separately.
Compare the final position with the plant or the indications given before delivery. A difference should be clarified before loading shelves and drawers. Do not drag a cabinet assembled to correct the location yourself: ask first how to intervene without compromising structure or fixing.
Try normal functions without forcing
Open doors and drawers with the normal movement of use. Observe any bumps, frictions or interferences with walls and other furniture. For special systems, such as container beds or sliding doors, ask for a verification with those who performed the assembly, avoiding improvised maneuvers.
Check that shelves, sticks and accessories are in the required configuration. Do not perform tests by loading excessive weights or using the mobile in a different way than expected. Functional verification does not replace the manufacturer's indications or authorises uses that have not been evaluated.
Distinguish existing observations and conditions
Keep photos before the move available. They are useful to compare a sign, a handle already loosened or a previously damaged part. If you notice anything you don't recognize, describe it accurately and show it to the instructed while still present.
Avoid generic annotations as “mobile to be settled”. Specify room, element and problem observed. A close photograph accompanied by an overview makes the information clearer. Any disputes and requests must be handled according to the agreements and documentation of the service, without deducing procedures or terms from a general guide.
Collect accessories and points still open
Ask for the residual hardware to be identified and delivered in an orderly manner. There may be spare parts, unused accessories or components related to a different configuration: do not throw them before clarifying the function. Store manuals and model references along with these elements.
If a part is missing or a later processing is required, it summarizes what remains to be done and who will take care of it. Only after this verification begins to fill the furnishings following the directions of use. The final control must not become a complicated inspection: it is used to close the move with a comprehensible and shared situation.
You can prepare a short list for the environment before the move day. Leave a room for observations and one for any points resolved on the spot, so the summary remains understandable even after.
