Check the case before filling out

The Swiss customs authority indicates specific conditions for the free importation of the farms, linked to the transfer of the domicile and the use of the goods. Form 18.44 is provided for in the procedure. The exemption does not simply result from the fact that the content travels on a medium from move.

Consult the official instructions and submit to the competent office the doubts before departure. The logistic preparation and verification of the requirements must proceed together, without waiting for the truck to be already loaded.

Prepare a recognizable inventory

Use concrete descriptions, quantities and codes connected to the labels. “A variety of boxes” makes it difficult to compare the list with the shipment; a distinction between books, linens and kitchen objects is more useful. Keep separate items that require specific verification.

The document can also contain operational notes, such as fragility or destination in the new home. These annotations do not replace the data required by customs: the two purposes must remain readable in the documentation.

Collect the evidence in a unique folder

Organize received documents and check that names, addresses and dates are consistent. Keep a readable copy and identify the final version. If an element is missing, please report it explicitly to those who follow the practice, instead of replacing it with a non-relevant document.

Do not close the originals needed in a box destined to the deposit. Whoever has to present them must be able to recover them without opening the load. For sending copies, use an agreed channel, avoiding personal data on external labels.

Coordinating travel and formalities

The passage shall be arranged at an authorized office and in accordance with the procedure applicable to the case. Check references and availability directly on official sources before setting the final program. A travel forecast is not a confirmation of the outcome of the practice.

If you expect a second shipment, please tell the person who prepares the documentation. The management of a subsequent shipment must be verified before the first step, avoiding independent lists that do not describe the entire transfer.

The quote must distinguish the service agreed by the issues still to be checked, so the program can be updated before departure.
