International moves in two shipments: dividing your belongings
Dividing an international transfer into two shipments can respond to a house ready only in part, to different family needs or to the need to continue working in Milan. However, the division must be designed to make each shipment usable.
Form complete groups
Do not separate only by rooms: check the dependencies between objects. A bed must travel with hardware and necessary components; a table with its fixing system. If a mobile device remains in use in Milan, it avoids sending a part first that prevents its use.
Prepare a list of the indispensable assets in both houses during the intermediate period. The choice can lead to postpone some pieces instead of disassemble them twice, but it should be evaluated before the packing.
Identify travel without renewing everything
Use separate codes for first and second sending, maintaining a general inventory of the project. The label must contain code, destination and assigned shipment. A color can help, but it should not be the only criterion of recognition.
When moving an object from one sending to another, it updates both lists. A correction made only on the sheet of the first trip can make the neck appear as missing or duplicated in the overall control.
Separate calendar constraints
For each shipment you need a pickup window and a delivery availability. The second trip should not be considered automatically booked because the first is confirmed. Ask what deadlines apply to define volume and appointments.
If the goods of the second shipment wait in deposit, clarify estimated duration, method of preparation and conditions of delivery. The wait must be described as an autonomous phase, even when it is part of the same transfer project.
Verify documents and formalities
When the destination requires customs procedures, inform the contact person immediately that the transfer will be split. Instructions applicable to subsequent envoys must be verified for the country and for your situation. Do not prepare two independent practices without comparing with those who follow the formalities.
Store a full version of the inventory and a separate one for each trip. Operational documentation must allow you to understand what has already been delivered, what remains in Milan and what will eventually leave no longer.
Evaluate the effect on the overall service
Two envelopes can involve two preparations, two accesses and two deliveries: compare the complete project, not only the price of the first load. For a DUDA assessment, it indicates the reasons for the division, the objects of each group and the dates that are truly binding. The solution must be chosen on the basis of the utility during the intermediate period and the necessary operations, without assuming that halving the load also halves the work.
