Mattresses and sofas: clean protection and access measurements
Mattresses and sofas are bulky, but their preparation does not only concern the size. Fabrics, coatings and removable parts require clean protection; the path through doors and landings must be considered before the withdrawal.
Detecting the measures useful to the passage
For a sofa note width, depth and height, distinguishing the parts possibly removable. Photograph armrests, feet and mechanisms if present. The dimensions of the furniture, however, are not enough: it also serves information on the doors, the curves of the corridor and the spaces of maneuver to the two addresses.
A mattress should not be considered automatically foldable. Structure and materials can impose specific indications of the manufacturer. Communicate the model or features available and ask for an evaluation when the path is narrow. Force a deformation to earn a few centimeters can compromise the product.
Packing only dry elements
Schedule any cleaning in advance enough to allow the materials to dry completely. Closed protection around still wet fabrics can create problems while waiting and transfer. Also check that the coatings used to protect the furniture are clean and suitable for the surface.
Choose with the operators a system that repairs the fabric without damaging it or hindering the grip. Do not apply stickers directly on the upholstery. For skin, delicate finishes or special materials, check the care instructions and report the needs before using film or contact protection.
Identify cushions, feet and components
Removable cushions can be grouped and identified, avoiding that they end up in the linen boxes. If feet or other elements are removed, store the parts and hardware with a code related to the sofa. Indicate any electrical mechanisms or internal containers, which must be prepared according to the relevant instructions.
Do not leave objects inside compartments or seats without communicating it. Before closing, check remote controls, cables, coins and small accessories. A sofa bed also requires attention to the mobile parts: their management should be agreed with those who carry out the handling, without resorting to improvised bindings.
Prepare an orderly delivery
Locate the desired room and orientation in advance, leaving enough space to place the furniture. If work or assembly is still underway, it agrees when removing the protections. Open everything immediately can be unhelpful if immediately after you need to move other items in the same room.
Compare the components arrived with those prepared and verify the reassembly of the agreed parts. For a possible deposit period, ask for a preparation compatible with the duration and conditions provided: the protection for a short transfer should not automatically be considered suitable for each stay. This information allows to formulate a more precise request and to reduce improvised interventions on the day of the move.
