Pans, utensils and small appliances: clearing your kitchen systematically
The kitchen contains many items that do not fall into the category plates and glasses. Pots, robots, oven accessories and small appliances require a practical inventory, especially not to separate components that only work together.
Prepare an essential kitchen until the last day
Before emptying all the drawers, choose a few items to keep available for meals immediately before and after the transfer. Separate them from the rest and clearly indicates that the container will have to remain accessible. This way you will not be forced to reopen many boxes to find a pot or a tool.
Also check what you haven't used for a long time: incomplete accessories, doubles and components of already replaced devices can be recognized before the packing. The selection should not be transformed into a quick decision during the loading. It prepares separate groups and communicates which material should actually be transported.
Separate metal parts and delicate surfaces
Pots and covers can have different coatings, glasses and handles. If you combine them, interpose compatible protections to avoid contacts that can mark the surfaces. Do not compress a pile only to exploit all the height of the cardboard and check that the handles do not press against the walls.
Sharp or sharp tools must be protected and recognizable, without free tips that can escape during opening. Avoid hiding them between rubbish or other light objects. An ordered box must also be safe for the person who will unpack it, not only appear well filled.
Maintain equipment accessories together
For each small appliance, collect bowls, blades, lids, cables and instructions available. The removable parts must be cleaned and dried according to the manufacturer's instructions. Do not leave waste of water or food in tanks and containers, and do not improvise disassembly that are not provided by the manual.
If you still own the full original packing, check that it is usable. Alternatively, it prepares suitable protections for shapes, keeping separate elements that might impact. A code on the packaged appliance and on the accessory envelope helps to recompose the group without looking in all kitchen boxes.
Label for function and reopen for priority
Labels can distinguish cooking, preparation, breakfast and non-food pantry. Writing only kitchen on each neck is not effective when the number of boxes grows. Do not mix detergents, products that may lose liquids and tools for contact with food.
In the new home check before the spaces for the equipment are ready and the necessary connections are available. Open everyday material, then fix occasional accessories. Check each group before eliminating the protections: a small blade, a seal or a cable can remain hidden on the bottom and make an otherwise complete appliance unusable.
