After moving within Italy: which packing materials should you keep?
After a national move, the packing materials quickly occupy the newly released space. Eliminating them all immediately, however, can make you lose labels, accessories or protections still useful. It is advisable to proceed in an orderly manner, distinguishing property material, any items to be returned and packages that can be reused.
Check before emptying and stacking
Open a box at a time and also verify folds, fillings and small wraps. Supports of shelves, screws or cables can be contained in separate packs and should not end together with scraps. Keep accessories connected to the furniture or the corresponding device.
Store labels until the content has been settled and compared to the list. If a box contains objects intended for a second stage of assembly, it can be useful to leave it identified and place it at an accessible point. Mixing everything in one container makes less evident what is missing.
Clarifying materials to be returned
Some materials used in the move may be subject to return conditions. Check what is provided in the service before bending, eliminating or using containers and protections elsewhere. Do not assume that each item left during delivery will automatically become your property.
If there is a withdrawal of the packaging, it agrees how and where to prepare them. Define also which materials fall within the operation. Keeping separate elements from the beginning avoids having to recover them from piles of boxes or materials already intended for other uses.
Select what is worth keeping
Dry, clean and intact boxes can be useful for storing objects or for a subsequent move. If you have space, fold them and group them by size. Do not store indiscriminately deformed or weakened packaging: their external appearance does not guarantee that they are suitable for a new load.
For televisions and equipment with specific packaging, consider whether to maintain the original packaging and its internal elements. Its usefulness depends on the available footprint and future needs. Store only the box without the protective parts can not offer the same function as the complete packaging.
Free environments without losing control
Prepare a temporary area for the materials already verified, avoiding occupying stairs, corridors and exits. Proceed room by room, starting from the necessary environments to daily life. Even the opening of the packaging requires space: immediately freeing all the necks can create more disorder than utility.
For the separation and conferment of materials, check the indications of the competent local service, especially when the new house is located in a municipality other than Milan. Modes can change according to material and territory. A gradual arrangement allows you to reduce the footprint by keeping only what you really need.
