What to keep separate before sending furniture to storage
Before the withdrawal, it is not enough to decide which furniture will leave. You also need to check drawers, bags, boxes and containers left inside. Some objects must remain available for everyday life; others require a specific verification of acceptance. Preparing this separation in advance avoids that a necessary element will end by mistake in a closed neck and reduces uncertainties on the composition of the load.
Prepare a bag that does not follow the load
Collect personal documents, keys used every day, phone, chargers and references of the new accommodation. Add the essential items for the out-of-home period, taking into account your individual needs. This bag must be clearly separated from the collection area of the packages. If more people prepare the house, inform all of its location: a container left next to the other boxes may seem destined to the store even when it is not.
Check the hidden spaces of the furnishings
Open drawers, pockets of storage sofas, beds and high shelves of the cabinets. Also check the cellar furniture and balcony, where you often accumulate forgotten products and equipment. Do not decide on your own to leave everything inside: the content can affect weight, protection and handling modes. It agrees which furniture should be emptied and identifies what is packed separately. A room control per room is more reliable than a quick general check.
Ask first for special materials
Liquids, foods, household maintenance products, batteries and containers require attention and verification with the supplier. Do not assume that a furniture store can receive any items from a house. Describe the material and quantity without inserting them into anonymous packages. For non-accepted goods, an appropriate destination must be arranged separately; the applicable indications depend on the material and service, so it avoids improvised or unidentified solutions.
Distinguish what has personal value
Family photos, irreplaceable memories, media with important data and documentation deserve a conscious choice. Evaluate what elements you want to hold with you and which can be kept according to the agreed conditions. If an archive contains confidential information, do not report details about external labels: use codes related to a personal list. However, keep a description sufficient to recognize the neck and not to confuse it with common material.
Make a final check with inventory
Before closing the job, compare the list of goods destined to the deposit with what remained in the house. Check that the excluded items have not been reintroduced to fill an almost empty box. A reported area “to keep with us” can help, provided it does not hinder operations. Communicate every doubt before loading: a choice made when the necks are still recognizable is easier than a subsequent search.
