Modular bookcases: moving them and rethinking the layout
A modular library can seem easy to fit any wall. In fact, the new layout depends on modules, links, finishes and fixes: before deciding what to bring, it is useful to distinguish what can be recomposed from what requires a verification.
Detecting existing composition
Picture the library frontally and create a schema of the modules from left to right. Marks widths, heights, doors, shelves and special compartments. Note if there are suspended elements, integrated lighting or connections with a desk. The total number of shelves does not describe the structure alone.
Check which sides are finished and which were hidden against other elements. A module moved to the end could show an unplanned surface to stay open. Keeping this information avoids imagining a new composition that, while entering space, would have a different result from the one desired.
Empty and classify content
Books and collectors must be packaged separately, distributing the weight in manageable containers. Use labels that identify the topic or the library area, if you want to recreate the previous order. Fragile objects and electronic devices require dedicated packing materials and must not be supported on the shelves.
Decide first if some volumes will stay out of the new library. Transport all books and discover that the composition will be smaller complicates the reorganization. You can arrange a group to be placed immediately and one to be kept temporarily, keeping the distinction clear in the inventory.
Try the new layout on the card
Draw the arrival wall by indicating doors, windows, sockets and radiators. Consider the opening of doors and the space for a chair, if there is an integrated work plan. It presents the desired layout to the assembly personnel before the move.
Do not assume that each module can be rotated, separated or superimposed. Compatibility must be verified with the construction system and the instructions available. If there are no elements to complete the new configuration, distinguish the simple reassembly from any adaptation intervention or the need for spare parts.
Programming fixing and filling
The elements that require anchoring must be evaluated in relation to the target wall. Cardboard signal, special coatings or information available on plants. The choice of fixing can not be obtained only from the apparent weight of the furniture.
After assembly check the doors, shelves and configuration agreed before returning the books. Stores unused accessories with the reference of the model. To obtain a useful evaluation, send DUDA both the current composition and the new wall scheme: the comparison helps to define what to transfer and what checks to carry out before work.
