Moving into your first home in Milan: what to bring and what to buy later

Two lists, two programs

Entering the first house in Milan often means joining objects from the family, new purchases and some used furniture. Write two separate lists: what must be transported and what will be delivered by sellers. An online purchased bed does not automatically belong to the moving company. Indicates who receives it, who mounts it and when it arrives. This distinction avoids a day with multiple teams in the same entrance and boxes that prevent working.

Measure before choosing

Draw a simple plant of the new house, with doors, windows, radiators and sockets. For the already available furniture measures the depth, not only the wall that will host them. A desk can enter the room and leave too little room for the chair. For sofas and cabinets consider the entrance path: landing, stairs and turns are part of the evaluation. A photograph of the furniture does not show that it will pass from the door.

The things necessary for the first night

Prepare an essential equipment: bed linen, towels, few tools, cleaning material and charger. Export it to identified packages and easily reachable. The rest can be opened for environment, without turning each room into a warehouse. If the bed requires installation, do it before transfer and check that the room is free. Sleeping in the new house also depends on the availability of the rooms, not only on the arrival of the van.

Avoid purchases that complicate the move

Recommend the furnishings you do not yet know the useful encumbrance. Living a few days in the spaces can help you choose a storage cabinet or a table without having to move them immediately. For items inherited from relatives, it agrees in advance what are really meant to you: on the day of withdrawal should not become a negotiation on what to take. Photograph groups of goods that will depart from different addresses and report any furniture to be dismantled.

Also check the availability of the surfaces on which the necks are placed. A newly furnished house can have the floor occupied by new shopping packages: collect them before the team arrives. If some rooms are still working, signal on the plant as not available and establish where to temporarily put the goods intended for those environments.
